Carmel Adventist College is seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Education Assistants to support our students and teachers in creating a positive and engaging learning environment.

About the Role/s

As an Education Assistant, you will provide essential support to teachers and students, assisting with classroom activities, providing individual or small group support, and contributing to a positive learning environment. Your responsibilities will include

  • Assisting teachers with classroom activities and lesson preparation.
  • Providing individual or small group support to students with diverse learning needs.
  • Supervising students during classroom activities, breaks, and excursions.
  • Assisting with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Maintaining a positive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Contributing to the general well-being and safety of students.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their educational development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.  
  • A current Working with Children Check.
  • Experience working with children with diverse needs is desirable.
  • Certificate III or IV in Education Support, or equivalent, is desirable.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary 15% above the Education Services General Staff Award 2020.
  • Year 1: Level 2.1, Subsequent years: Level 2.2.
  • Salary range: $53,162 - $54,795 (pro-rata for part-time).
  • 11.5% superannuation.
